Our First Walk Around Kamiama

Miscellaneous views:
The brown buildings are the complex where Micah & family live. All is built of cedar. We'll write more about this later. A lot is cool about it.

Note the windmills on the mountain.

Bright yellow-green areas are rice patties.

Look closely in the center and you will see a clump of Sudachi. They are sweeter and juicier than limes. They originated here in Tokushima Prefecture in ancient times (a prefecture is like a state), and this locale is still known for them. They are everywhere here.

This is known as "Elephant Mountain" for its shape. "Zoyama" - Zo is elephant and yama is mountain.

Watermelons grow abundantly, and fetch $20 for average size - they do not grow big. (Like most everything else here!)

Old stone walls everywhere

Close up of rice plants.

Not a Matchbox Toy - it's a heavy duty truck! (This vehicle is not exported to the States!!)

All of the kudzu did not get to the states!

This is a gate to a Buddhist temple and a Shinto shrine. Also the same road leads to an art crawl. Kamiama invites artists from all over the world to come for free room and board in exchange for an installation We look forward to exploring all of this.
